MG’s plans to launch a crossover are no longer a secret, as the automaker confirmed it by showcasing the CS concept at Shanghai 2013 earlier this year, but the vehicle’s design was still a mystery.
Until today, when the unnamed small SUV surfaced the Internet via a set of leaked patent images. The pictures show a production vehicle that retains a few styling cues from the CS concept, but without getting too far from MG’s current design (think 2013 MG5).
MG has yet to spill the beans on the production version of the CS concept, but word has it the entry-level model will be powered by the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine (135 HP) found in the current MG5. The vehicle is also rumored to gain a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine rated at 200 HP and 213 lb-ft of torque.
Additionally, Left Lane News speculates that the unnamed crossover will have standard transfer case, a limited-slip rear differential and a height-adjustable hydraulic suspension. The new MG is expected to arrive in Chinese dealerships in the fall of 2014 and go on sale in the United Kingdom shortly after.
