The lines between the big three German automaker are blurring themselves into a mess of cars that cater to every single niche in the market. Now Mercedes wants to boost its sales by taking a slice of Audi’s pie, with an E-Class that focuses on 4Matic all-wheel drive.
Even the mighty E63 AMG will be available with 4Matic, from what we gather, a new advanced system that use electro-hydraulic means of torque distribution.

But the car in these pictures is not the E63, it a simple E-Class sedan that will also bow at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show in mid-January.

We’ve also heard of an intelligent suspension system that reads the condition of the road ahead of the E-Class and changes the damping.

But perhaps the biggest change is going to be the new front end “face” of the car. The car will sport a massively modified lower grille and redesigned headlights. The overall impression will be that of a more sophisticated, softer look.
