Mercedes has decided to show the top-of-the-range SL of the R231 generation today, together with their brad new Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 W03 race car in Spain. The big news is of course what’s under the hood. Instead of the 6.2-liter engine in the old car, which put out 525 hp, the SL AMG has a 5.5-liter twin-turbo engine.
This new M157 generation V8 has 536 horsepower. That might only be a small increase in power, but in combination with a new chassis, it should be the best AMG Mercedes of the moment. As a result of a weight reduction of 242 pounds (110 kg), the new SL63 can sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds, while fuel economy is 30 percent reduced. CO2 emissions have also dropped, from 328 g/km to just 231 g/km.

We’ll have more info on the car as we get closer to Geneva, but for now, enjoy the first video of the SL63 AMG which is what drives Schumacher to the new F1 car.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
