Mercedes Releases SLS AMG 3D Movie Trailer [Video]

If you take a look at the evolution of the marketing concept in the automotive world over the last few years, you’ll notice that the market has the tendency to become reluctant to the classic communication channels, forcing specialists that work for carmakers to come with new ways of promoting vehicles.

And when it comes to supercars, like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, things go to an extreme level. Mercedes is currently preparing a special movie to promote the SLS. This will be a 3D production, which will be released later this month, with the footage including Formula 1 driver David Coulthard.

However, the German automotive producer has decided to offer a trailer for the movie, together with a “making of” video. It’s just that the two videos come in... 2D.

Moving on, we’ll tell you that the action is shot in the UK. To be more precise, the high-speed driving you can see in the two videos were shot on the Isle of Man. This is the only location in the country where speed limits haven’t been invented yet.

Tips: check out two of the “making of” video’s highlights: 1)Coulthard spins out on the exit of a corner, missing obstacles on the side of the road by a few inches; 2) One of the camera cars used during the shooting is also a SLS AMG.
