Mercedes Offering $5,000 VIP Discounts to Maintain US Lead Over BMW
They have brought out a program, in 2012, which is available for cars bought this month, which includes cash offers and special conditions for leasers, such as allowing some customers to not pay as many as five payments - forgoing them altogether. Keen to compensate for poor European sales in September, Mercedes has adopted this program, which is something we rarely see with these luxury automakers.
The Three Pointed Star was beaten in the US last year by BMW, which also outsold Lexus - the Japanese brand had been the sector leader in the US, for the last 11 years. According to an official Mercedes statement, the special deals "can be offered at the discretion of the dealership's general manager to VIP customers of the dealership, business associates of the dealership's employees and dealership employees' extended family members,"
The offers include a $750 deduction of the cost of a new C-Class, $2,250 for an E-Class, $3,000 for the GLK, $3,275 for the S-Class and the biggest discount of all is for the GL SUV, which gets $5,000 off its list price.
