Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Available for Order

German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz announced today that starting from Monday, November 16, the company’s sales and service outlets and partners will be taking orders for the SLS AMG. Dubbed the new Gullwing, the supercar will retail for a price of 177,130 euros.

"Following a high-profile world premiere at the IAA, we are very excited about the SLS AMG's commercial release on Monday. There is huge interest in our new super sports car and we are convinced that the SLS AMG will captivate our customers," says Volker Mornhinweg, Chairman of the Management Board at Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

Starting from November 16, customers will have access to informational material which provides details of the paint finishes, leather colors, standard equipment and optional extras available for the SLS AMG. The company also revealed that customers will be able to configure the car online at www.mercedes-amg.com and www.mercedes-benz.com.

The new SLS AMG has had its world debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September, with the market launch set to take place in spring 2010. The model enjoyed a great deal of success since it was first introduced thanks to its gullwing doors.

The SLS AMG is equipped with a 6.2 liter V8 engine from AMG, mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, that delivers 571 hp and 650 Nm. This allows the new Gullwing to sprint from naught to sixty in 3.9 seconds, despite of its 1,620 kg overall weight. The top speed is electronically limited at 317 km/h and the fuel consumption level shows a combined 13.2 l/100 km figure.

The Gullwing will be offered with a choice of nine exclusive paint finishes highlighted by the AMG ALU-BEAM silver paintwork. Additional exterior styling cues include LED technology and motor racing/aviation inspired elements.
