Boris Becker, a tennis champion, accomplished driver and a good poker player we might add, is the perfect person to represent the image of the new Mercedes SL Roadster. Well, yes and no, as this commercial launched by the German automaker proves.
The idea here is that Becker, who’s quite funny in real life, does the narration to a commercial for the new SL until the driver is fed up with his annoying voice and kicks him out of the car.
Right now, there are basically three engine options. The base car is the SL 350 equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 306 hp and 370 Nm of torque. Next up is the SL 500 that uses a 4.7-liter V8 which is much more impressive than its predecessor. The 435 hp (429 hp in US spec, where it’s called the SL 550) this produces makes it 12% more powerful than the old R230 version of the 500. Lastly, there’s the 5.5-liter twin-turbo AMG version, but rumor has it the SL 65 AMG will make a comeback, powered by a V12 engine.
