The flagship sedan in the Mercedes-Benz lineup just received one more reason to gloat its special status among all the other lesser cars in the segment it has led since the model's inception.
As of last night, the S-Class W222 is now the holder of the coveted Golden Steering Wheel award in the premium and luxury segment.

At least 100,000 readers of the German magazines Bild am Sonntag and Auto Bild selected their favorite cars from no less than 49 models that where launched during the course of 2013.

The five best cars in each of the six categories were then subjected to extensive test drives at the Pirelli proving grounds in Balocco, Italy, by an independent jury comprising automotive experts and racing drivers.

Arguably the best car in the world has traditionally been the benchmark for technological advances in both comfort and safety, most of its launch features becoming standard or optional equipment for other cars in typically ten to fifteen years from an S-Class generation's arrival.
