Mercedes-Benz Rumored to Be Working on Two Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Cars
text size: A- A+
At one point, hydrogen fuel-cell cars were pegged as being the future of motoring but they have been overshadowed by the aforementioned ‘wave’. However, with Honda’s FCX Clarity and Hyundai’s recent trek of Europe from North to South in a hydrogen-powered iX35 using only the network of hydrogen filling stations(which was successful), we (and apparently Mercedes too) think that hydrogen is still viable as a fuel source to power us into the future.
Recently, Sascha Simon, product planner for Mercedes-Benz USA said that they are planning on releasing two new hybrid fuel-cell models, an SUV and possibly a variant of the B-Class. The cars will be initially launched in California and eventually in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
