Mercedes-Benz G 55 AMG KOMPRESSOR "Edition 79" Unveiled in Dubai

Following the introduction of the SLS AMG Desert Gold at the Dubai International Motor Show, German carmaker Mercedes Benz gives us a more tasteful flavor of one of its models. Dubbed the G 55 AMG KOMPRESSOR "Edition 79," the commemorative (it is a celebration of the model launch in 1979), the off-roader will be exclusively available in the Middle East.

Compared to the standard model, the "Edition 79" comes with a crash bar at the front, carbon-look side trim strips, 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a titanium finish and chromed protective grilles for the front indicators, tail lights and the underguard. What is truly unique for the special edition is the matte finish, already featured on the SLS but unavailable for the production version of the G.

On the interior, the G has gained designo leather seats in black/sand, high-quality, solid carbon-fiber trim and the Edition logo "1 out of 79" positioned in front of the selector lever.

At the heart of the off roader lies the regular 5.4l V8 petrol engine, developing 507 hp at 6,100 rpm. No modifications have been brought to the power unit.

In addition to both the SLS and the G 55, Mercedes presents in Dubai no less than 16 high-performance models.

The models on display include the E63 AMG, the C 63 AMG and the S63 AMG. Mercedes Benz vehicles wearing only an AMG package include the S400 HYBRID and the new E-Klasse Coupe.
