Sometimes, hiding in plain sight is the best option and you know what's the best part about carmakers using this strategy for their prototypes? Sometimes the stunt backfires, and we end up with superb sightings such as the one in the clip below.
The infamous Green Hell beast (you know, the Mercedes-AMG GT R) has recently been spotted in Stuttgart traffic - with the supercar still covered in a psychedelic wrap, noticing the machine wasn't exactly difficult.

The uber-raw incarnation of the GT is set to hit dealerships next summer, so it's only normal for the German engineers to perform the final tweaking, despite the model having already been shown to the world.

That Panamericana grille, a 15 vertical slats arrangement paying homage to the racing 300SL of the 50s is lifted off the GT3 motorsport hero and when you pack such an aero element, it's difficult to remain hidden.

Alas, the driver of the velocity animal knew he was being watched, so we didn't get to sample the aural might of the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, which would've been delivered though the titanium exhaust of the thing. The heart of the beast has been massaged from 503 hp and 479 lb-ft  to 577 hp and 479 lb-ft, while a lightweight dual-mass flywheel allows the unit to rev freely.

While we're at it, we'll also remind you the R is the only GT flavor that comes with rear-wheel steering, mixing this with an electronically-controlled limited slip diff shared with the GT S.

It's still to early to talk Mercedes-AMG GT R pricing, but, if you're willing to spend your time inside such a contraption, you should know the starting point of the financial adventure will sit close to $200,000. And we all know how devilish German automakers are when it comes to luring one into the optional extras realm.
