Are you sitting down? Good, 'cos the Mercedes-AMG GT is not as cheap as previous reports said it will be. Mercedes-Benz informs that the most basic of AMG GTs available will set you back €115,430 in Germany, which is €3,000 more than a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S.
That's a lot of money considering the base AMG GT makes do with "only" 462 horsepower and 600 Nm, not the full-on 510 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque of the AMG GT S. Speaking of the GT S, that one is priced from €134,351. Furthermore, the Mercedes-AMG GT S adds what the AMG GT unacceptably lacks as standard: an electronically controlled rear-axle locking differential, that is.

With deliveries starting in the first quarter of 2015, the Mercedes-AMG GT and AMG GT S can be kitted with a number of optional exterior packages, including an elegant Night Package (€952), an even more elegant Silver-Chrome Package (€1,130), as well as a racy Carbon Package priced at €4,700. If you're a fan of the limited run Edition 1, that's €11,161 (€148,512) over the starting price of the hotter AMG GT S.

As for the way more practical and more torquey C63, Mercedes-Benz is asking €76,100 for the entry-level model in sedan guise, while the family-oriented estate (T-Modell) kicks off from €77,766. That sum of money buys you a similar 4-liter biturbo V8, but compared to the one on the AMG GT, this one delivers a little bit more torque in standard guise. The same can be said for the C63 S, which boasts with 700 Nm compared to the AMG GT S' 650 Nm of torque. Price-wise, the punchy AMG C63 S starts from $84,371.

In its home market, the Mercedes-AMG C63 S estate commands €86,037, but you can do better than that by opting for the Mercedes-AMG C63 S T-Modell with the Edition 1 treatment, which wears a sticker price of €97,818. For all the pricing information on both models, refer to the press release attached below.
