Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC Special Edition Celebrates Successful Formula One Season

To say the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team had a successful season in 2015 is a blatant understatement. It was a one-horse race from the start in the constructor’s championship, and the only question related to the driver’s championship was whether the second place was going to go to a MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS driver as well.

It did, so at the end of the year, MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS won everything there was to be won in what’s arguably the highest echelon of motorsport. Obviously, that called for a celebration, and that’s precisely what will happen at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart where the 2015 edition of Stars & Cars will take place.

But until then, Mercedes-AMG released a special edition A45 4MATIC to mark the occasion. As was expected, the main inspiration points come from the winning team’s Formula One car, the F1 W06 HYBRID.

Named a “Silver Arrow for every day,” the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS 2015 World Champion Edition A45 4MATIC comes with a set of exterior and interior features that set it apart from the rest of the range by giving it a unique look. The special version comes in a selection of grey tones (mountain grey metallic, designo mountain grey magno, and polar silver metallic, to be more precise), but it also gets the green and black highlights specific to the successful race car.

The visual package also includes some aerodynamic tweaks in the form of a new, larger front splitter and a rear roof spoiler also inspired by the F1 single seater. Rounding off the exterior appearance is a set of 19-inch cross-spoke wheels in titanium grey with a petroleum green rim flange for contrast.

On the inside, the only real exclusive features are the high-quality badge on the lid of the storage compartment that predictably says MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team and the electrically adjustable Performance sports seats with a distinctive striped design. Apart from that, the special edition Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC comes with most of the optional equipment you can imagine. This would partially explain the astronomical asking price that amounts to €65,402.4 in Germany (and can go as high as €66,818.5 with the designo mountain grey magno matte paint). That’s almost ridiculously high.

But Mercedes-AMG doesn’t care what we think and will go on as planned, launching the special edition A45 4MATIC today in Abu Dhabi, ahead of this weekend’s Grand Prix. The car will be available for purchase for a limited period of time starting January 2016 and ending the same year in May.
