Take a good look at the number above. This will be one of the stars of the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, where it will introduce McLaren’s new creature. We were not all that surprised to see McLaren teasing its Geneva debut, but the info accompanying this image does change what we knew so far.
You see, everybody believed the Brits would give us something called the P13, an entry-level model slotted under the 12C. Well, McLaren now comes to explain that the new 650S will acutally sit between the 12C and the P1 hypercar: “It takes learnings from both the 12C as well as the sell-out McLaren P1™ and will be positioned between the two on McLaren Automotive’s supercar grid.”
This would put the British model on par with vehicles like the Ferrari F12 or the Lamborghini Aventador. While the move would make sense as far as the supercar market is concerned, the aforementioned lower entry would’ve brought more serious sales.
At least the release is less than one month away and we hope to get our hands on more info by then. Perhaps even an explanation for them chosing a motorcycle name...
