McLaren Says No to Honda Engines
Speaking to Autocar, a McLaren spokesperson that asked to remain anonymous said that “there is no anticipated impact on the road car division as a result of the Honda deal”. Though no details about the new P13 have been revealed, it’s believed that the entry-level sportscar will be powered by a detuned version of the twin-turbo V8 engine fitted in the MP4-12C.
As we already told you last week, Honda will return to Formula One as an engine supplied for McLaren. For the next season, F1 will shift from V8 mills to turbocharged 1.6-liter V6 powerplants as part of FIA’s plans to reduce costs and fuel consumption.
