McLaren Announces Track-Only McLaren 12C GT Sprint
Built around the same ligthweight carbon fibre chassis that underpins the MP4-12C, the 12C GT Sprint was designed and developed by McLaren GT, the company’s motorsport arm, to fill the gap between the 12C and the 12C GT3/12C GT Can-Am models.
The race car borrows several aerodynamic features from the McLaren GT3, but also retains some of the road car’s unique systems. Track equipment includes carbon ceramic brake discs, OZ alloy wheels, Pirelli slick tires, FIA-compliant rollcage, fire extinguisher, and a lighter air conditioning system. The McLaren 12 GT Sprint can be ordered with a batch of optional lightweight components as well, such as carbon fiber rear wing and front splitter or polycarbonate windscreen.
Scheduled to be built in only 20 units this year, the new 12C GT Sprint will go on sale “at a price point below £200,000”.
