Slowly but steadily, the McLaren 650S is starting to receive its fair share of custom technical goodies, with the latest example of this coming from AWE Tuning, which has come up with a complete exhaust system for the British supercar.
Their exhaust comes complete with a performance catalyst, namely a 200 cell HJS catalyst. If the complete system is installed, you get an extra 18 hp and 32 Nm (24 lb-ft) at the top, which means your 650S will deliver a total of 668 horses and 710 Nm (524 lb-ft).
As always with such developments, the performance gains are offered through the rev range. Even though AWE Tuning doesn’t mention the exact spot where this is offered, they talk about a maximum gain of 44 hp and 68 Nm (50 lb-ft).
The system is built from three-inch diameter stainless steel tubes. Sure, titanium would’ve been nice, but that would’ve pushed the price through the roof, which was probably why the good old stainless steel was chosen.
Speaking of the financial side, the pricing varies from $3,595 to $8,295, depending on the catalyst addition and the selection of the tips (you can have Black or Machine Finish tips).
