McLaren’s plan to expand its reach into the go-fast machinery world thanks to a new Sports Series slotted above their usual land-land rockets is already starting to show its effects. To be more precise, a 570S, which is the first member of this new series, was recently spotted on the streets of London.
We’ll remind you the British brand introduced the model last month. Given the fact that the 570S promises to be Woking’s most friendly machine to date, it only make sense for it to be representing the breed in the vicious London traffic.
When you’re out there, wedged between the Congestion Charge and cyclists who like to stalk supercars, even the financial relief the 570S brings in terms of McLaren pricing should be helpful.
As many of you know, the 570S comes with a sticker price of GBP143,250 or $184,900, which doesn’t seem like all that much when you factor in the performance. You know, figures such as a 0 to 62 MPH (100 KM/H) sprint covered in 3.2 seconds, or a 0 to 124 MPH (200 KM/H) run left behind in 9.5 seconds.
To get an idea on just how fast this “junior” McLaren is, we’ll mention those performance figures make it just as fast as a Lamborghini Huracan.
Both the practicality and the pricing mean the 570S is a thorn in the side of what has become known as the most usable of all supercars, namely the Porsche 911 Turbo.
Sure, the 570S lacks the 2+2 seating configuration of the Zuffenhausen machine, but, other than that, this British machine has all the chances to bring quite a few customers to the brand.
Some have complained about the front fascia of the 570S, mentioning something about Toyota GT 86 headlights on a supercar. While the machine does look better in real life, we have to admit the designers could have gone further in their efforts. But we’re still going to give this Mac the thumbs up.
