After Mazda North America had announced that the 2016 Mazda CX-3 will hold a starting price in the ballpark of the low $20,000s, the Japanese manufacturer followed up with pricing for the United Kingdom and Europe. At £17,595 or €15,290, the CX-3 crossover is £5,500 or €4,300 more expensive than the entry-level Mazda2.
Of course, pricing differences may vary between EU markets, but the fact is that the jacked-up brother of Mazda’s supermini holds a somewhat hefty sticker. Trim level naming differs depending on the market.

What’s dubbed in the United Kingdom as SE, SE Nav, SE-L, SE-L Nav and Sport Nav are, more or less, the equivalent of the Mazda CX-3 Emotion, Challenge, Attraction, Revolution and Revolution TOP. If you’re curious what comes as standard on the entry-level model, we’re much obliged to tell you that it’s a lot.

Other than the front-wheel drive platform, six-speed manual transmission and G120 SkyActiv-G 2.0L N/A petrol engine, the base Mazda CX-3 is complemented by i-STOP start & stop technology, air conditioning, a USB port, buttons on the steering wheel, power side mirrors, electric windows, push-button start, Hill Assist, tire pressure monitoring and Dynamic Traction Control.

If the 120 PS motor isn’t gutsy enough, the 150 PS is the only other petrol-fed alternative. In terms of turbo diesel power, customers can equip the Mazda CX-3 with the 105 PS CD105 SkyActiv-D oil burner, a mill that displaces only 1.5 liters. All-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic can be ticked from the optional extras list for those that yearn for better traction and seamless cog swapping action.

With the ordering books now open, look forward to June for first deliveries.
