Maserati's ways of promoting its products seem rather more refined than some other Italian car brands we won't mention. The Trident is involved in all sort of gentlemanly activities, including a polo tour under it's own name.
The makers of the Ghibli and Quattroporte have now collaborated with La Martina, a company that specializes in polo apparel to create a one-off, hand-made, luxury polo saddle. It was crafted using a regular black leather and two shares of suede for the cushion by skilled specialists from Argentina. The car company is celebrating its 100-year anniversary in 2014 and a special logo was embossed onto the side.

The color scheme was inspired by the Maserati’s luxurious road cars, including the new premium executive Ghibli saloon. It's needless to say that horse+luxury car create an amazing photo opportunity.

Nicknamed "the sport of kings", polo is played by two teams of 4 mounted players who's goal is to kick a ball using a long-handled mallet. It's believed it originated in Persia as far back as the 6th century BC. That's right, over 2,600 years ago. Beat that football!

Maserati’s Centennial Polo Tour has already visited China and America. The same blue Maserati Ghibli Q4 you see posing next to the horse was on display last weekend at the West Palm Beach Polo Club. Next up, the tour is coming to Britain on 15 June at the Jerudong Park Trophy at Cirencester Park Polo Club, where the saddle will be displayed.

Another gentlemanly sport that Maserati is involved with is profession sailing. On monday, famed sailor Giovanni Soldini Pagina Ufficiale arrives in NYC’s North Cove Marina onboard the Maserati VOR 70 sailboat, built by Ermenegildo Zegna.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
