Rumors about Maserati building a baby Quattroporte have been around for a while now, but the carmaker recently brought this closer to reality, trademarking the Levante name (this means “East” in Italian), which is expected to be used for it.
Of course, the designation could also go to other future Maserati models, but, like we said, this is expected to be used by the four-door coupe.
The vehicle will allows customers to choose between a V6 and a V8 engine, both of which will work with an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. However, the details about the project are limited so far, with Maserati keeping things under the covers.
The baby Quattroporte is expected to come to the market sometime in 2014, so we have plenty of time to get our hands on the features of the car by then.
