Masamichi Kogai Becomes Mazda President and CEO
The current CEO, Takashi Yamanouchi, will remain Chairman of the Mazda Board. Yamanouchi received his position in 2008 and was tasked with protecting Mazda’s independence against the devastating effects of the economic meltdown. After four years in the red, Mazda returned to profitability earlier this year.
In addition, Seita Kanai, currently Executive Vice President, is set to become Vice Chairman of the Board. Kanai has been responsible of the Mono Tsukuri Innovation, a strategy that fought to limit the effects of the conflict between Mazda’s export dependence and the rising Yen.
There’s also a third Mazda leadership shuffle, which sees Akira Marumoto becoming Executive Vice President of Mazda, as well as assistant for the new CEO.
