What car does a former Formula One man turned Porsche works driver prefer? If the answer is to come from Mark Webber, be prepared for a little chat about the 918 Spyder.
The Australian racing driver has just taken delivery of the hypercar. Since the Porsche site in Zuffenhausen is like a home to Mark, going for the factory delivery was only natural.

Did we say “delivery?” We meant livery - check out the colors on this 918 Spyder. In case the Red, White and Carbon Fiber appearance looks familiar, it’s because the scheme is borrowed from the 919 racecar Mark manhandled at Le Mans this year.

With Porsche taking the win on the Circuit de la Sarthe in its second year after its comeback, such a celebration could be expected. In fact, we’ve seen a shift in Porsche’s marketing strategy over the last few years, with the company working to build a personal brand around Mark. The latest details to derive from this? Just call the driver #Aussiegrit and you’ll have it covered.

Back to the machine now

We could’ve expected Webber to go for the Weissach Package, which takes the performance of the manic hybrid even further. You can easily distinguish this thanks to the carbon fiber body armor of the hypercar. And those lightweight wheels aren’t bad either.

Mark has always shown a down-to-Earth attitude, and this shows in the cabin choices he’s made. The black leather features white contrasting stitching, while the list of special materials includes carbon fiber, as well as Alcantara.

Once he received his car, Mark drove it straight to the Nurburgring. This weekend is an important one for the driver, as the racetrack will host the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Nurburgring race. So it’s back to the 919 for Aussiegrit.
