Marco Simoncelli to Become a MotoGP Legend

Official MotoGP sources indicate that Marco "Super Sic" Simoncelli will be inducted into the MotoGP Hall of Fame.

Sic is the 21st ider to be granted the honor or becoming a MotoGP Legends, with Casey Stoner being the last addition to this restricted "club".

The official ceremony will take place at this year's Italian Grand Prix at Mugello.

Marco Simoncelli was killed on 23 October 2011 in a crash during the second lap of the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Before his untimely death at the age of 24, he had already won a 250cc world title and was a rising star in the premier class, and was also one of the most beloved, charismatic riders in the paddock.

Sic will join Giacomo Agostini plus Mick Doohan, Geoff Duke, Wayne Gardner, Mike Hailwood, Daijiro Kato, Eddie Lawson, Anton Mang, Angel Nieto, Wayne Rainey, Phil Read, Jim Redman, Kenny Roberts, Jarno Saarinen, Kevin Schwantz, Barry Sheene, Freddie Spencer, John Surtees, Casey Stoner and Carlo Ubbiali in the MotoGP Hall of Fame.
