Lotus Evora Enduro GT Concept Introduced

Based on the already successful Evora GT4 Endurance model and coming as a test bed for future development of the GT2/GTE homologated cars for FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) and ACO (l'Automobile Club de l'Ouest) endurance racing cars, the new Evora Enduro GT concept has been brought to life... so to speak.

Developed by Lotus Motorsport under the direct supervision of Lead Designer Nicola Scimeca, the Evora Enduro can be bought by private individuals and adapted for racing.

But before moving on to see the technical aspects of the car, let’s see what Lotus Motorsport has in mind for it. It seems that the team intends to use the Evora Enduro GT to ontend the following endurance events this year: Nurburgring ADAC 24 Hour Race (June 23-26), Spa 24 Hour Race (July 28-31), Silverstone 24 Hour Race (October 8-9). Also, the 24 hour races in Dubai and Daytona are on the list for 2012.

Performance wise, the car is powered by a mid-mounted 4-litre DOCH V6 VVT-i engine, naturally aspirated and tuned by Cosworth, capable of developing 440 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 460 Nm (340 lb.ft.) of torque at 5,500 rpm.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a sequential 6-speed transmission, while other elements, such as a twin plate sinted clutch, a competition thermally coated exhaust manifold and a performance air filter, also play their part in
aiding the driver get the most of the potent powerplant.

Also, Lotus says the chassis is made from aluminium,  while its suspension is a double wishbone with Ohlins dampers, coaxial coil springs and a uni ball wishbone joint.

The vehicle rides on 18 inch forged alloys wrapped in 24/64-18 - 27/65-18 tires front and rear, while providing the necessary stopping power is a performance brake system with 22 mm race pads, two piece aluminium belled discs and 6 piston callipers at the front and 4-piston calliper at the rear.

Interior highlights of the Evora Enduro GT car include Cosworth Omega dash, gear indicator, fire extinguisher and electrical cut out. PI D3 Dash with dynamic sensor kit, FIA approved competition seat on fixed mounting frame (optional Non FIA slider), a FIA approved 6 point competition harness, and electrically adjustable door mirrors.
