Lotus Esprit Axing Apparently Just a False Rumor

We reported yesterday that Lotus would be axing their new Esprit, a car which would have ended up looking a lot like their Esprit concept, shown at the Paris Motor Show, back in 2010.

However, it seems that it was merely a rumor, as Kevni Smith, PR Boss of Lotus Cars USA stated: “Until an official of Group Lotus, Lotus Cars Ltd or DRB-Hicom makes any announcement it’s just rumor and supposition.”

This means that it may still become a reality, and with all the rumors of it getting either a Lexus-sourced V10, or an advanced hybrid system, we are back to being excited and eagerly awaiting an official statement from Lotus, confirming the Esprit for production.

The last official announcement from Lotus is dated July 26th, when the company the production of the Exige S V6. That was three months ago, so the next press release we will get from Lotus will hopefully be the right one.
