Lorenzo Trustful in Jerez Win
Having completed this year's winter testing on top of the timing reports and sweeping the Qatar GP round with top times in all practice sessions, qualifying and race win, Honda will undoubtedly come to Spain as clear favorites. However, bearing in mind his wonderful performance at Jerez last year, where he recovered from a poor start to win the race in the last lap, the reigning world champion believes Yamaha might overturn all expectations this weekend.
“I am ready to come back to Jerez,” said Lorenzo about the race where he started his winning campaign last year. As in 2010, the Spaniard will come to Spain after finishing runner-up in the season opening round in Qatar.
“We started the championship so well in Qatar and I believe it is a great moment to ride for my people here in Spain. Last year the situation was quite similar and perhaps I got the best victory of my career, closing a big gap in the last few laps. We can't make predictions for Sunday, but my crew and I will work as much as possible to be in front.”
In addition, the Yamaha rider believes that racing in front of his home crowd, with the grandstands full, will provide him with an extra boost against the almighty Hondas.
“Jerez is a special place for me, maybe the best track in the world. When I was only 15, the day right after my birthday, I raced for the first time in front of 100,000 people here,” he concluded.
