Initially set to be unveiled in the flesh at the Moscow Auto Show this month, we might have to wait a little longer to see the new F16 X6. Sure, BMW showed it to us in a couple of photos but those are one thing and the car in real life is a completely different one.
Not once we happened to notice that a car looks absolutely different under the natural sun and in the open than it does in some carefully photoshopped pics. One lucky Autogespot photographer had the chance to encounter the F16 X6 in real life though, completely undisguised.
Sure, the car seems to be still wearing the 'Werktestwagen' stickers on it but it's in production guise nonetheless. It's probably still testing a thing or two but we can still admire its shapes.
And we have to admit it looks rather stunning in real life as well. It's at least as imposing as it looked like initially and it seems to be adopting BMW's new design line with more grace than other models. The huge healights up front really fit on it.
The 2015 model will be migrating in the niche it's already working, looking to offer its customers even more luxury. That will be noticeable especially inside, where the new interior can be fitted with the finest grain leather and some of the best trim materials around.
The price did also go up but at the moment the choices are limited. If you live in the US you can order one but you can have your pick out of only two choices: the xDrive35i and xDrive50i.
Under the bonnet no major differences happened. The xDrive35i uses the same 3-liter inline 6-cylinder unit while the other one is relying on the same 4.4-liter V8 with 450 HP and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque. Prices start at $61,900 though. That's for the 300 HP one. In Europe you also get the M50d diesel model.
