However, we’re referring to bike triple-x so all the voluptuous shapes and all the screams you’ll be hearing have nothing to do with scantily-clad ladies. Instead, we’re bringing you high-quality audio from Surrey, the UK: the sound of the mighty Hesketh 24 custom machine. We played it really loud here and honestly, it sounds majestic.
Only 24 Hesketh 24 motorcycles will be built and each will be individualized with a gold number plate on the tank. This is the result of around 4 years of painstaking work in developing a machine which would be capable to deliver track-worthy performance and still retain as much as possible from the retro vibe of James Hunt’s 1975 F1 car it evokes.
A fully-loaded air-cooled roadster
Hesketh 24 is a fully-loaded machine engineered to put a big grin on the faces of its customers and anyone who will be lucky enough to throw a leg over it. The standard bike Hesketh has been talking about was to be equipped with a 1,950cc air-cooled S&S Cycle X-Wedge v-twin, but the video below mentions an 2.3-liter power unit.
The Hesketh website still makes no reference to such an engine, so this is one thing we need to clear out on our list. The video does show BST carbon fiber wheels, racing-grade carbon exhausts, top-drawer Öhlins suspensions, Beringer brake hardware, and a Baker transmission. The plush, comfy seat is made of waterproof nappa leather.
Still, Hesketh is offering at least three custom engine tuning options. UK’s premier Harris Performance Engines will provide stage engine tuning to suit the preferences of all customers.
The price is not that high
Unlike other custom machines, the Hesketh arrives with a rather decent base price, for its segment. At £35,000 bike ($59,380 or €43,850), the Hesketh 24 is definitely a cool deal, especially as the price is expected to go up because of the very limited run. Still, what’s a bit puzzling is that adding up the money for the 24 £35,000 bikes makes up for GBP840,000, and Hesketh said that the estimate project cost was around the 900-grand mark, also British pounds. This doesn’t make too much sense.
