It's been almost four years since TRON: Legacy came out. However, car tuners everywhere are still inspired by light cycles traveling across the grid. We've seen all sorts of cooky contraptions, but this one has to be the coolest of them all, a Volkswagen Golf that's been completely tricked out for this year's Worthersee meeting of GTI fansatics.
Called Light Tron 2.0, the crazy Golf is a collaboration between at least two European tuning companies. BlackBox-Richter Car-Wrapping took care of the incredible florescent, pixelated camo design. As you can see in the gallery below, they've also made a Tron T5 van for the show, though we haven't been able to find clear photos of that car.
The wheels, meanwhile, are the work of Low-Car-Scene. Instead of traditional spokes, they made the center from plexiglass and fixed that to the hub and the rim using bolt screws. This allows you to perfectly see the inner workings of the suspension and braking systems and will be a true spectacle at night.
This is supposedly the first wheel set from a series called "Pinwheel", which is German for either wind turbine or pinwheel (the children's toy).
As far as the car itself is concerned… well, it's a bit of a mystery. It's clearly a Golf 7 that has the R look. The only problem is that it's the wrong R look, the one from the old Mk6. The side intakes are rounded, which leads us to believe that behind the wheels and the funky wrap there's a regular bog-standard Golf with a skin graft. We'll let you guys judge for yourselves while you give Tron 2.0 your verdict.
