Lexus RC F Wining European Hearts at Geneva

Being some sort of Japanese luxury musclecar, the Lexus RC F got to be unveiled for the first time at Detroit back in January, the home of big V8 cars. But this doesn’t mean Europeans aren’t excited about this new F model.

The all-new Lexus RC F got revealed at the 84th Geneva International Motor Show, bringing the automaker’s promise of ‘Amazing in Motion’ to life through style, power, instant response, agility and a special growling exhaust sound.

The RC F is basically the new RC coupe, but coming with a ginormous V8 engine, improved suspension, bolder design, an active rear wing and a Torque Vectoring Differential that distributes the right amount of power to each rear wheel, enabling excellent handling response in corners.

Inside, the RC F comes with redesigned seats and advanced technologies to support the driver. The gauges for example are inserted in a large display, as in most recent aircrafts, while their contents chance according to the information needed at any moment. There is also a representation of how much power goes and is distributed to each rear wheel.

Still, the automaker said nothing about exactly how much power the 5-liter V8 engine makes, making us think they are still benchmarking the powertrain. All we know for now is that the new engine makes over 450 horsepower and more than 520 Nm of torque. Quite a beast, isn’t it?

The new V8 will offer both performance and fuel efficiency. When cruising down the highway, the engine will use the Atkinson-cycle to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. However, step harder on the loud pedal, and the V8 returns to the classic Otto cycle to offer top performance.

Comparing it with the rest of the range, the standard RC 350 will be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 making 306 hp while the RC 300h will use the same 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine aided by an electric motor in the new IS, making a total of 220 hp.
