The Japanese Super GT series are due to start this April and until then, all teams are rushing out testing their new cars, as the championship’s rules have changed to align more with the touring car series regulations.
Along with the new regulations, new cars have been chosen for the job and Lexus is among the automakers to provide a racing version of the new RC F model to some of the teams.

The RC F GT500 will replace every Lexus SC model previously used throughout the series and it will be powered by a turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder engine according to the new regulations. However, don’t get sad because this machine here will certainly feel a lot better than your average Golf GTI - just because the regulation don’t allow big V8s anymore doesn’t mean they ban power and 500 hp is a round number to achieve.

There are currently six teams in the GT500 series to use the new RC F including Zent Cerumo, LeMans ENEOS, WedsSport BANDOH, Petronas TOM’S and SARD. And with the first race of the 2014 season starting April 6th, all the teams recently took their cars out for a spin at the opening rounds of the Okayama International Circuit, Japan. Check out how it went in the video bellow.
