Lexus Planning M3-Rivaling IS-F Coupe

Lexus never quite got there with the current IS-F, which while undoubtedly a very good and capable car, still failed to make a real dent in BMW M3 sales, and despite the fact that they are now testing a ‘hot’ variant of the folding-hardtop version of the IS, by the time it gets launched, it will have to face the new BMW M3, and it is doubtful that it will make any sort of impact.

However, Lexus is apparently really keen to make a coupe version of the all-new version of the IS, which would ultimately spawn a coupe IS-F, which will stand a much better chance against the mighty German. It will undoubtedly borrow much from the LF-CC concept, trying to not only win over fans with its performance, but also with its bold and un-Germanic styling.

Also, it would most likely be powered by the same five-liter V8 engine with no forced induction whatsoever, yet it will most likely match the BMW for power. However, with the BMW now being turbocharged, and the V8 used in the IS-F not having enough torque low down, it is very possible that the Bimmer will still be the better car to drive anywhere else, but the track.

Lexus may fix the lack of torque of their V8, as it better-suits their car, though. No word on dates or concrete numbers yet, though.
