Lexus Might Build LF-Lc Due to Strong Demand
When it was shown it at the North American International Auto Show, the LF-Lc Concept, quickly created a stir, with its jet afterburners and gaping grille. But when speaking to AutoCar, Lexus product planning chief Karl Schlicht played it cool and said the chances of the car being put into production have jumped as a result from 0 to 50 percent.
However, you have to wonder why the car has got a regular GT car shape and a predictable wheelbase for its layout. No, Lexus designers were probably hoping for a good reaction, as the car even has mirrors, which is uncharacteristic for a concept.
"Every top Toyota Motor Company manager is aware of the great reception it has received and now we're talking about how we can do it and fit it into the product plan,” Schlicht explains. "We'd never get it built from a product planning point of view on paper, but people have seen the concept and fallen in love with it. Dealers have gone crazy for it as well."
About the only thing isn’t production-worthy (yet) is that glass-to-glass C-pillar, but it would be really cool if they could find a way to offer such a feature.
