Lexus Hybrid Sales Break Half-Million Barrier
The best-selling model is, of course, the RX400h/450h, which sold 259,000 units through 2012, being followed by Lexus’ attempt at entry into the premium hatchback market, the CT200h, which was launched in 2011 - so far it has racked up an impressive 122,000 sales.
The aforementioned GS450h also achieved impressive results, managing to sell 32,000 units in total, while the HS 250h and ES300h achieved 56,000 sales and 8,000 sales respectively. Equally impressive is the number of hybrid versions of the LS flaship that they have managed to sell - 29,000 thus far.
It is impressive to see how Lexus has turned something as ‘un-luxurious’ as being green into a statement, and they have convinced those who can afford their premium products to pay extra and get a lot of expensive technology. The fact that they have a hybrid version of everything makes Lexus’ range rather unique, and while their cars may not have the aggressive appeal of their German rivals, they seem to address different clienteles altogether.
