Have you recently stepped into a new Lexus CT? Have you noticed how nice and high quality that interior is? Now here’s the twist - did you know that about 30 percent of it is made out of plants?
Sounds a bit crazy to look at a quality plastic panel and think it’s made out of some plants, right? Well, Lexus took a decision back in 2003 to make its core models 95 percent recyclable by 2015, meaning that most of their components to be reusable in other applications or bio-degradable.

Intensive researching enabled Lexus to create plastics and other materials using soy, castor seeds and kenaf fibers, thus eliminating the need of petroleum substances to achieve the same materials.

This of course leads to an overall carbon print reduction, making all Lexus’ vehicles even greener. Two of the most popular bio-plastic-interior vehicles are the Lexus HS and CT, which are already at the point of reaching the 95 percent recyclability auto-imposed standard.
