Football players and cars are a common association, but this story has a different twist. As you know, many major teams sign deals with individual brands to promote particular automobiles. Other players are known for buying expensive vehicles. And some footballers are known for crashing them into a tunnel because they were on the phone (you know who did this one).
This time, our story revolves around Leicester City, and the excellent result its players achieved in the Premier League. As it turns out, the unlikely result impressed the team owner so much that he decided to gift each player with a new Mercedes-Benz.
Mr. Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the head of the club, will provide each player with a Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive.
Instead of supercars or luxury cars, the Thai business person decided to gift his football-playing employees with a new electric vehicle. As the Daily Mail notes, this gift will cost Mr. Vichai (we're not going through the trouble of writing his last royally given name again, sorry) around one million pounds, as he has to buy 30 electric cars.
We are curious to know how they will solve the upcoming issue of charging at least 11 electric vehicles at a time while the team is practicing, but we hope someone from the team will post pictures of the solution on some form of social media.
Either way, we applaud both the result of Leicester City, as we appreciate incredible results from underdogs, and Mr. Vichai's generosity and choice.
Naturally, the players will also get a financial reward of 6.5 million pounds, but that's not so important to us because there's nothing uncommon about that and we write about cars, no football players. Still, one cannot disrespect the unlikely result achieved by the team, as bookers had placed the team's odds of winning the Premier League Title at a reported 5000:1.
We must admit we did not expect anyone to gift an electric Mercedes-Benz B-Class, let alone 30 of them. The team's coach, Mr. Claudio Ranieri, will get an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas. Which one would you rather have?
