While Ford’s engineers have been testing an upcoming spicy version of the new Mustang for quite a while now, we were only suspecting this would bring back the GT350 moniker, but had no actual proof. Now a leaked GT350 badge comes to show this will indeed be the moniker we’ll see on this wild pony.
The image, which has shown up online thanks to Mustang6G, promises to be a digital representation of the actual badge that other drivers will see on the ‘Stang when this overtakes them.
Mystery fans shouldn’t be worried though - the details of the car are still not clear. For one thing, the model may or may not receive the Shelby moniker. As for the tech side, the Ford Mustang GT350 is expected to be some sort of a successor for the Boss, as it will be the hottest naturally-aspirated incarnation of the sixth-generation Mustang.
Thus, the muscle is expected to arrive from a massaged incarnation of the Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8. A serious output growth is expected, as the vee eight should climb from 435 to 550 hp. As you can expect, the IRS (Independent Rear Suspension), along with the rest of the car’s tech side will be upgraded.
As for the aforementioned Blue Oval engineers, these are currently tasked with pushing the GT350 prototype to the limit, even if this sometimes mean playing the spinning game on the Nurburgring.
The 2016 Mustang GT350 is expected to be previewed on September 19, as Ford dropped a hint of this during this year’s Indianapolis Motor Speedway broadcast.
