The campaign will culminate with the announcement of the four winners in December 2014.
Always dreamt of becoming an astronaut? Well, Land Rover and Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic might just offer you the chance to become one soon. Four friends are set to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to space with Land Rover’s Galactic Discovery competition, a competition described as “a ground-breaking on-line search for a group of aspiring astronauts to go on the ultimate adventure.”
As part of their collaboration with Virgin Galactic, Land Rover has announced the space flight prize through a film featuring a group of the world’s greatest adventurers and personalities. A premiere among marketing competition, the winners will be among the first pioneering travelers to view the earth from space and experience out-of-seat zero gravity.
The opportunity of becoming an temporarily astronaut is being offered as part of the marketing campaign of the new Discovery Sport. The car was officially unveiled in a film shot at Spaceport America, New Mexico, which will be the base for Virgin Galactic’s sub-orbital space flights. According to the British auto maker, the movie forms part of Land Rover’s biggest ever digitally-led campaign, debuting their new SUV exclusively to an online audience for the first time.
As to what fans need to do in order to get in the competition, well Land Rover asks them to produce a 30-second video, or a still image, that demonstrates their spirit adventure, choose three friends to join them on their space adventure and submit it via Land Rover’s website. The campaign will culminate with the announcement of the four winners in December 2014. Only question is, who will you take with you?
