Land Rover Defender by Kahn Gets 500 HP V8

A quick glance at the Land Rover Defender in the adjacent image reveals something that belongs to British roadsters, not offroaders - an elongated bonnet. Well, this is here for a pretty good reason, as the iconic all-terrain machine has been gifted with a... 500 HP V8.

Part of British specialist Kahn’s Chelsea Widetrack series, the thing has a very reasonable name, being called “Longnose”. Aside from accomodating the aforementioned V8, which actually delivers 495 bhp, the tech pack includes a six-speed automatic transmission. In additions, the differentials have been upgraded, but we don’t get any details. The tech package reminds us of Bowler's creatures, but this seems like a more usable proposition.

The Defender also comes with matching stopping power, having received a racing-developed braking system. The new brakes are hidden behind rugged-designed wheels measuring between 16 and 20 inches in diameter.

The whole thing is dressed in Kahn’s Chelsea wide body kit, which makes the already tough Defender look like it’s grown an extra beard.

Climbing aboard, we find hand-trimmed bucker seats, a sport steering wheels, drilled pedals and custom dash instruments. However, one can also check out the list of options, which includes stuff like navigation and privacy glass.

For now, the Defender Longnose is offered on the short wheelbase, thee-door version (Defender 90), but the five-door one (Defender 110) is also in sight. Only 49 units will be produced for a price of GBP89,950.
