Lamborghini’s Huracan “Test Drive” Shows Exhaust Flames, Donuts

Now that the Lamborghini Huracan is among us, the Italians have also released the fourth episode of their series for the supercar, the Hexagon Project. While the first three have left us high and dry, this reveals some pretty spicy facts about the V10 supercar.
The clip shows the two protagonists of the series taking the Huracan for a quick “test drive” around Lamborghini’s factory in Sant’ Agata Bolognese. To be more specific, we’re talking about some sort of joyride in the middle of the night.

Among other, there are three things that drew out attention in particular. Unlike the Gallardo, the Hurracan’s yet undetailed AWD system comes with electronic control for the torque distribution. Well, from the way in which the Lambo is baking donuts in the video below, it’s clear that this ability comes at least as easy as before.

By the looks of it, once you get the Hurracan spinning, which doesn’t appear to be very difficult, the front axle doesn’t want to take over, so the car’s behavior looks more like that of a RWD, not an AWD one. We’re expecting a default torque bias of 70:30.

Then there’s also a more obvious, but just as spectacular detail - en route to its new-found 610 HP output, the naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 has learned a trick from the Aventador - its exhaust can now spit flames. By the way, this is usually done by releasing a very small amount of unburned fuel into the exhaust.

As for the third observation, this is a bit of a rant, related to the upgraded V10 engine’s start-up sound. While this appears to be just as glorious as expected, we would’ve liked Lambo to have fiddled with the tech side in a way that had brought the sweet, rushing starter motor featured on its V12 powerplants - we’ve placed an Aventador start-up sound clip at the bottom of the page so you’ll catch our drift.
