Speaking at a send-off dinner of the Grande Giro 50th anniversary tour, Audi boss Rupert Stadler confirmed that Lamborghini's first SUV will hit the production line. While no other details have been revealed, Auto Guide claims that the vehicle will be built starting 2017.

As we already told you in the past, the Lamborghini Urus will be underpinned by the same platform used for SUVs such as the Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne. Powered is expected to come from a V12 engine that will deliver around 600 horsepower.

The Sant'Agata Bolognese-based automaker hopes to produce around 3,000 Urus SUVs per year and sell them mainly in the United States, Russia, China and the Middle East.

Rumor has it the Urus will fetch in excess of $200,000 (€155,000).
