Lamborghini Huracan Spyder Looks Like the Ferrari 488's Arch Enemy in Frankfurt

You know those stories about two powerful warriors separated at birth, where one is good and the other one is evil? Well, the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder looks like the malevolent, slightly hotter sister of the Ferrari 488 Spider. They even have the same last name… kind of!

Lamborghini nailed it with this car, likely to go down as one of the sexiest convertibles ever made. In terms of curb appeal, it's up there with the Porsche 918 and the LaFerrari. Even if we're wrong on that one, the Huracan Spyder is still Frankfurt's beauty queen.

While the Ferrari is an upgraded version of the older car, equipped with a smaller turbocharged engine, Lamborghini reminds us that there is no replacement for displacement. You see, just like the Huracan coupe, this convertible model is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 with 610 PS.

That's a lot of engine, exactly what you want to listen to when the roof is down, and you require an eargasm. Of course, AWD and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission are part of the everyday supercar deal.

Has the lack of a metal roof ruined the performance? Hardly!

The top speed is an amazing 201 miles per hour, down just a single digit from the regular Huracan. According to Lamborghini's own numbers, the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time has fallen from 3.2 to 3.4 seconds, but that's hardly something to be ashamed of.

The drawback to having unlimited headroom is that the weight has increased by 264 pounds or 120 kilograms. That's like always having one of your bigger friends tag along for the ride. But the Huracan has always been a car to be seen in, not just a track tool.

Things look much better when you compare this new supercar God to the Gallardo Spyder. Torsional rigidity is up 40 percent over Sant'Agata's last V10 convertible while downforce is up by 50 percent. Can you argue with those numbers?
