Now that the Lamborghini Huracan has gone RWD, it was time for Sant’Agata Bolognese to preach its throttle steering to the world. Lamborghini hasn’t failed to deliver, with the company releasing an ad that shows the 580 horsepower incarnation of the Huracan being put through its sideways paces.
The LP580-2, as friends call it, gets drifted with delicious slip angles on the Imola track in Italy in a commercial that screams “La Bella Italia!”

The Raging Bull even goes as far as showcasing the way in which you can apply various drifting techniques in its V10 supercar, with the rear tires taking one for the team in the process.

Sure, the commercial is all about using the throttle of this Lamborghini to steer the machine, but don’t expect to see LP580-2 drivers queuing up at your local track.

As any other Lamborghini in the world, the Huracan LP580-2 is more about the show than anything else. And while it is almost 40 grand cheaper than the all-wheel-drive Huracan, it’s still considerably more expensive than tons of other new cars you can successfully use for drifting.

Then there’s the car itself. The Italian engineers have gifted the supercar with Lamborghini Piattaforma Inerziale, a piece of equipment that sees three gyroscopes and three accelerometers measuring yaw, roll and pitch angles, with the system only requiring 10 milliseconds to respond.

In practice, this Lambo allows you to paint in rubber, but you don’t quite get the level of drifting assistance you’d have in a Ferrari or a Porsche. Still, you’ll be able to slide your way right past McLaren owners with their open differentials.

Meanwhile, we’re inviting you to check out the naturally aspirated drifting in the commercial below - until the Urus SUV and its twin-turbo V8 arrive in 2017, Lamborghini remains the world's only major supercar producer that sticks to atmospheric engines.
