Only two months into 2014, the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder are spitting and hissing at each other, getting ready for what will be the fight of the century. Both have really complex hybrid drivetrains that gobble the mind and tickle our senses in equal parts. Porsche's car has all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering, McLaren's is light and powerful.
But where's Ferrari in all of this? Their supercar, which has the heritage of the Enzo backing it up, doesn't want any part of the fight, at least not yet.
However, one pristine example of LaFerrari was recently testing at the Fiorano track and we like what we see. It sounds like 90% of an F1 engine, looks much sharper than the 918 Spyder. It's also a much more dangerous billionaire's play toy, as the next video will show.
Trying to accelerate out of a high-speed corner, the LaFerari's back end steps out and though overcompensation the driver spins out onto the grass. Guess it's not a pristine example any more!
Supercar spotter Marchettino who filmed the incident says none other than F1 legendary wheelman Kimi Raikkonen was behind the wheel of the car when it spun. It just goes to show you hypercars are crazy.
