Kia to Kill MY 2010 Borrego

Kia Borrego isn't quite a successful model in the United States and, as a result, the South Korean manufacturer might drop this particular vehicle for the 2010 model year. According to a report by thecarconnection.com, the weak sales recorded by the Borrego in the United States are representing the main reason for the decision, despite the fact that it's quite new on the market - Kia officially introduced it in late 2008 as model year 2009.

To give you an idea on how poor the Borrego performed, you should know that Kia sold only 9,510 units in the United States in 2009, according to figures published by the aforementioned source. In November, the company sold 825 vehicles.

The Borrego was offered with two engine configurations, a 3.8-liter V6 unit and a 4.6-liter V8 configuration that produced 300 horsepower.

It comprised numerous safety features, including two-stage airbags, full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows, four-wheel disc brakes with an antilock brake system (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), brake assist system (BAS), electronic stability control (ESC) and traction control (TCS), and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Displayed at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the car was believed to represent a real market hit for Kia in the United States, especially because it was the most powerful Kia vehicle at that time.
