After Hyundai replaced the Santa Fe last year, it's now the turn of their sister brand Kia to launch an all-new Sorento SUV. If you're the type of person who wants a large, well designed SUV but doesn't want to pay the premiums German automakers charge, this is definitely a model you should watch out for. According to the manufacturer, the Mk3 Sorento is going to be a bold design statement, featuring a lower roofline and aggressively designed front end.
But don't take their word for it, just check out the latest teaser video released by Kia hours ago, together with a short statement and two photos. According to that, the debut for the new Sorento has just been scheduled to take place in August during a presentation in Seoul.
The teaser photos show a large Maserati-like chrome grille that's connected to tapered headlights. The side profile is dominated large alloys and a lower panel line similar to that on the cee'd hatch.
The rear of the all-new Sorento will have quite a few sport touches, including a large boot lid spoiler and three dimensional taillights with a long C-shaped LED design.
Recent reports suggest three engines will be on offer right after the launch. A new 2-liter turbo borrowed from the 2015 Sonata sedan will be joined by a large 3.3-liter GDI V6 and a 2.2-liter CRDi diesel for the European market.
Speaking of Europe, Kia's new SUV will make its debut there during the 2014 Paris Motor Show on October 2nd. Kia promises design and engineering input from its German offices will mean this it's just as appealing as an VW Touareg.
