Kia Reveals Sporty Pro_Cee'd GT With 200 HP
Furthermore, to really make the new Cee'd look like a serious contender for top honours in the class, they have now given it a sporty version, with 200 hp. While a few years ago, before the days of the Focus RS, Megane RS 265 and the latest Opel/Vauxhall Astra OPC/VXR, we would have called this a hot hatch, it is now more of a warm alternative to the mainstream models.
We already liked the new Pro_Cee'd's styling, and while its name may be very contrived, its shape is very clean, and with the extra sporty touches the GT gains, it looks even better.
Now, looking at the car for the first time, you will have noticed the revised bumper and grille, which gets a GT badge. The bumper also gets some rather imposing daytime running lights, which sit atop the car's fog lights.
Around the side of the car, there are new and more aggressive side skirts, while at the back the car gets a redesigned rear bumper as well. The rims look to be 18 inches in size, and they show off the red painted calipers (which aren`t all that big) nicely.
The engine is a 1.6-liter unit, which makes 200 hp and 265 Nm of torque, which is good for a 0-100 km/h or 0-62 mph time of 7.9 seconds, which is frankly just a bit slow for a hot hatch, but perfect for a warm hatch from the upper part of the spectrum.
Expect it to go into production in mid-May, so it should arrive on the market soon after that, with an expected price of around €24,000 - €25,000.
