Muscular shoulder, rising coupe-ish window lines, larger wheel arches and elongated headlights all contribute to the little citycar’s charisma and charm. While the oversized foglamps housings and a protruding bumper give it a sporty, lean look, at the rear, the taillights imitate the number seven, with the Kia badge doubling as a handle for the hatch. Other styling improvements include the reversing lights and reflectors that are now positioned on the edge of the bumper.
Inside, the five-door hatchback’s dash will closely follow that of the Venga and Soul and will sport substantially better materials and more space than the outgoing model.
On the global markets the 2012 Kia Picanto will be available with a number of powertrain choices, including a 1.0-liter engine with three power levels, a 3-cylinder Kappa engine that runs on petrol, flex fuel or bi-fuel, and a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder petrol Kappa. Power outputs range from 69 hp to 85 hp, while CO2 emissions can reach as low as 95 grams per kilometer.
