Kia Releases New Picanto Commercials

Kia has finally released a couple of cool commercials showing the forthcoming Kia Picanto (Morning in South Korea) in action. The direction shown by the ads and the recent PicantoLeaks marketing campaign clearly indicate that the car is aimed at a younger, trendier audience. Muscular shoulder, rising coupe-ish window lines, larger wheel arches and elongated headlights all contribute to the little citycar’s charisma and charm. While the oversized foglamps housings and a protruding bumper give it a sporty, lean look, at the rear, the taillights imitate the number seven, with the Kia badge doubling as a handle for the hatch. Other styling improvements include the reversing lights and reflectors that are now positioned on the edge of the bumper. Inside, the five-door hatchback’s dash will closely follow that of the Venga and Soul and will sport substantially better materials and more space than the outgoing model. On the global markets the 2012 Kia Picanto will be available with a number of powertrain choices, including a 1.0-liter engine with three power levels, a 3-cylinder Kappa engine that runs on petrol, flex fuel or bi-fuel, and a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder petrol Kappa. Power outputs range from 69 hp to 85 hp, while CO2 emissions can reach as low as 95 grams per kilometer. The 2012 Picanto/Morning will officially debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, with prices to be announced at a later date. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
