Kia K3 Smart Watch Is Simple and Better

The fact that smart watches are the new hype in the world of mainstream high-tech is just yesterday news. Apple Watch was just revealed, only to continue it’s crazy competition with Samsung but there is yet another company that recently unveiled their own design of a smart time piece. The difference is, this one will be given out to the first 1,500 Korean buyers of Kia's K3 car and comes rather as an auto device than the usual IT gadget.

Is it the new Apple Watch? No. Is it Samsung’s Galaxy Gear? No, even though it does come from the same country, which is South Korea.

It is in fact Kia’s new K3 watch introduced for the Korean market. For now, that is. It comes with far more basic looks than the ones you find on the market, but could easily qualify for the "less is more" quotation. Why? Let us explain.

According to Consumer Reports, the timepiece comes with simple features such as a rubber band, stainless steel bezel and movement by Swiss Ronda, but operates like a remote key fob. You wear the watch, you don’t need a key for the car anymore. It unlocks the doors, it operates as the proximity key, for the push-button starts and can even open the trunk. You walk away, it locks the car.

No need to be said, there are a lot of smartphone Apps that do that, but the big difference would be you don’t need to be connected to any smartphone, which means you don’t need to be on a network. It’s just a wrist watch that tells the exact time and open doors. Your Kia K3’s doors, of course.

Will it reach U.S.? Not sure, but it seems it’s popular already, so it might as well do, soon enough.
